I have noticed lately a number of comments on who I (we) am in Christ, or maybe it is just me. Awhile back I started writing some of these down. So, I thought I would share some of what I have. We all seem to need reminding on this point. We see it on posters, movies like Overcomer, songs (I am thinking of Remind Who I Am by Jason Gray), just for starters. The struggle to remember who we are, has an effect on self-esteem, depression, our sense of panic when our world seems turned ... View Post
Season of Singing, part 1
Somewhere over the course of last winter, my body was healing and my mind waking up. However, I didn’t realize how much this was happening until February (the 9th) when we had a blizzard. The next day, I was able to go out, wade through snow, take pictures, and just enjoy being out. I wasn’t too cold or winded. I was amazed at how much I could do and wondering “when did this happen?”. "When did I begin to feel better?" Not long after this, while I was reading in my ... View Post
Summer 2019
Where did my summer go? This year is a mixture of things that went well (at least for a time) and those same things when they didn't. But, isn't that really how life goes? Garden Let's start with the garden. We managed to plant most of it when we should. We actually kept up on weeding for about half the summer. Then the chickens wouldn't stay in their pen and kept eating the tops of the lettuce and carrots as they emerged. Clipping wings didn't work to hold them in. So, we were left ... View Post
Repentance and Relationship
I recently read an article (AnswersInsider July 2019) comparing how our culture needs to again know the Bible and compared it to the time of King Josiah in the old testament (II Kings 22-23). The Israelites lost the Book of the Law (the first five books of the Bible) and didn't even know it. King Josiah was trying to do right in God's eyes. In his 18th year as king, the high priest found the Book of the Law and gave it to the king's secretary. After reading it the secretary read the book to ... View Post
Snowed In
This winter brought us an actual blizzard. The drifts stacked up and plugged our road. The county and state road crews couldn't keep even the highways open and they closed HWY 2 at the top of Pine Canyon. It only lasted a day. It took another day to dig out enough to get to the highway. Two days, not much time, but for me it was fun. I enjoyed seeing another blizzard. Yes, I know, I'm probably one of the few. We spent much of the morning reading to the kids and otherwise just being ... View Post
Ebenezer
Do you know what an Ebenezer is? Ebenezer in Hebrew translates "stone of help." We see it in I Samuel 7:12 "Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, "This far has the LORD helped us." Samuel the judge While Samuel judged Israel, they assembled for a time of fasting and confession. Then, the Philistines decided it was a good time to attack. Samuel, taking a lamb, offered the sacrifice and prayed to God for their deliverance. ... View Post
