My name is Heidi Tonseth. I am married to to Sam and we have eight living kids currently ages 25-7. We live and grow on our small growing farm (some would call it a homestead) in North Central Washington on a high plateau in the rain shadow of the Cascades range.
We homeschool. Our youngest 5 are all schooling. The oldest three all out and working. Homeschooling is a very important part of growing our children and helping them grow in Christ.
Our family has spent many years scraping along on one income, so I could stay home with the kids. This has required some creativity in making do, eating simply and often just plain going without. It has required me to learn to garden, cook from scratch, growing animals and honing my sewing skills. Many of these skills are learned from reading and trying. I started without the aid of internet and have enjoyed being able to learn and share with others in recent years.
Some of my favorite activities include weaving, crochet, reading and playing the piano.
